Blog

This blog is dedicated to re-creating the world into which the Raising Up Pharaoh series of novels is set. “World” encompasses geography, climate, flora, fauna, agriculture, animal husbandry, transportation, architecture, religion, trading, and other factors which establish the material setting for the story. We start with the largest elements of physical setting and proceed into the progression of man’s knowledge about nature and his ability to exploit the benefits of the global warming which started some 20,000 years ago. We will be honest where we’re “pushing” some elements further back or forward in time, i.e. where we make an environmental factor available earlier or later than professionals might agree with.

The posts are numbered and build upon the sources cited, data, analyses, and conclusions of their predecessors. So, if you’re interested in the theme, you’ll be rewarded for starting at post #1.

This Blog introductory page lists quite a few posts, going back from the latest. To see numbered posts other than those listed on this page, go to the bottom of the page and click “Next” to go back, and when “back,” you will see a “Previous” button to go forward. If you are looking at a numbered Blog Post, you won’t see the menu of posts, but will see “Archives” in the right column, which are listed by month. Click “May” and you’ll find post #1…and so forth in the later months listed.

I use links to other web sites where there is an in-depth explanation of a subject that I want to include in that blog post, which I know some of my readers might want to know more about before continuing in that post. These links use the name of the subject in blue font, like Mesopotamia . Click the blue Mesopotamia link and you will be transferred to the Wikipedia site on Mesopotamia, which will be opened in a separate window on your browser. After you have finished with the linked site, simply close that site’s window and you will return to the blog post at the same spot where you were before opening the linked window. You can then continue reading that day’s post, now more fully understanding that subject, and its relevance to the blog post.

We want to know what you think, and encourage you to comment in the form at the bottom of the pages. Comments will be moderated and displayed within 24 hours, but often in far less time…sometimes minutes. Thanks for visiting.
