Marilyn, a people who have the right to vote in a functional election process get what the majority vote for. If they are seriously interested in getting better candidates to run, or want more voters to agree with their own values, they should get directly involved in the political process. The United States of America has a constitution and Bill of Rights which are so good that I offered my life to the USA for eight years as a Marine to defend them. Americans should be very stern in ejecting from the political process those who abuse or show contempt or wish to replace the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Washington and Eisenhower were exemplary men, but there are many exemplary people in the USA who could lead just as well, but won't risk their family's reputation and tranquility to be abused by the slander mill now controlling elections in this country. Elections were always tough, but 24-hour News has added a measure of non-stop vitriol that who can bear? As for charisma, Adolph Hitler had so much he mesmerized his people. As did and still do many villains. Give us an honest, accomplished president with a truly transparent history, and our country will not need to ride the roller coaster we are on.

Marilyn, The Dynastic Race Theory is not mine, as you say, but a perfectly valid theory credited to Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie, the acknowledged pioneer of scientific archaeology in Egypt and Palestine. You need to read the Wikipedia article linked to that theory, which is in my blog post #27. And you should follow the link under Petrie's name under this website's Archaeologists tab to understand his credentials and ascertain his high ethics. Some keyword seems to have upset you. We are dealing here with dynasties in both Mesopotamia and Egypt, and the issue is how various Mesopotamian artifacts and practices found their way into early Egypt.

Any reassessment of leadership must include two other words: "charisma," (similar sounding, but not similar to) and politics. If we are fortunate, men like Washington and Eisenhower combine the best of all three qualities. Make no mistake, though, Washing and Ike were both charismatic, and politicians through and through. In fact, being coalition military leaders, they were politicians long before they sought political office. In the history of the world, they were also exceptions. More times than not, we're trading off strengths and weaknesses and making the best choices we can. I submit that those who are political and charismatic can be expert in hiding their true character, which doesn't help.

The Latin American Studies major in me has difficulty swallowing that the siphilis, measles and religious conversions foisted (and forced) upon Aztec culture by the Spaniards were an improvement over the human sacrifice of at most hundreds of their own conquered prisoners. Your Dynastic Race Theory certainly sounds valid and you have provided documentation if I wish to further pursue it. If, however, Archeology is, as you say, becoming a science - which I have no reason to doubt - would it not be better to stick to what the evidence tells us and leave assigning comparative cultural value to others?

Thanks, Marilyn. There is a lot of archaeological evidence of what was happening in Eurasia and the Levant in 1177 BC, and author Eric Cline is a fine archaeologist and good guide. Don't neglect to write a review of Dr. Cline's book, and post it where you bought it. Authors love honest reader reviews. You'll note that Dr. Cline was already on my list of archaeologists under the Archaeology tab. I put the book on my wish list on Amazon.

The maps in the front of my novels that are titled "West" and "East" are two halves of one map -- in lieu of having one fold out map like you would find in early printings of Lord of the Rings. Actually, two halves are easier to use (e.g.place names can be larger), just as they're easier to print (a fold-out map would be impossible for the Print-on-Demand presses of today's highly efficient new publishing world). You could cut the two maps out and make one map with scotch tape--but you would gain nothing. As you progress through the six novels of the Raising Up Pharaoh epic, you will notice that the two maps grow to encompass larger portions of the full map shown in blog Post #3. By the 5th book, the two halves combined encompass the full map shown in Post #3. As the maps grow and add new place names, they are cumulative i.e. no place names drop off. The reason for this is that no place drops out of the story. Rather, the story (as does its cast of characters) grows throughout, encompassing the full map in the last two novels.

I toured the Oriental Institute in the late 70s-early 80s. What a marvelous place. I still remember the Lion Gates of Nineveh.

So where, in the above maps of the Middle East, do your "Known map of the World East/West fit in?
